I use Mac Family Tree 7 which is a shareware program and suits my needs, the other one is Reunion but is very expensive. If the person exports her family tree from the PC as a Gedcom they shouldn't have any trouble importing it into Mac Family Tree
I use iFamily for Leopard (don't be put off , mine started as Tiger, was updated and renamed Leopard but has been updated so runs OK with Mavericks). Can't remember what I paid, possibly £16? so may now be £20+, but it is periodically updated at no cost. Just done an update moments ago.
I use it mainly for storage offline of my tree, periodically importing a gedcom from my online tree, and also for sundry other tree fragments for non-related friends. I recall that it came with a free trial ( albeit partial version only).
I have just had the same dilemma . I decided to go with mac family tree. It was OK and I could continue with my research and recording but I really did miss Family Historian. I had read about using a programme called Crossover (codeweavers.com) to run windows software on a mac. FH is not a "supported" application in Crossover , however many people reported using it successfully. So I decided to go ahead with the trial version and found that I could access my FH perfectly. I am a very new mac user so due to my inexperience with the mac and the crossover programme it was a little tricky to get it all working again once I had purchased the full version of crossover. However with little help from my son in law it now all works perfectly! And an added bonus is that I can even run ancestral sources through crossover too!
I am now a happy FH user again.
I have always used Reunion and it is excellent. However, there are cheaper alternatives now that weren't available when I made my choice so I've no idea how well they measure up. The key though is to use a GEDCOM file as the means of transfer.
