Lacie Quadra Drive and Mavericks

Avatar Edward Laine
I have a d2 Quadra which I was using as a secondary back up to the Time Capsule. Since upgrading to Mavericks the drive runs continuosly and causes the Mac to hang. Looking on the web forums I am not alone, and they are waiting for Apple to correct the fault. If you are using this drive with Mavericks and are experiencing the same problem then you are not alone. If you have found the answer please let me know, also if I find the answer I will post it. Cheers

Hi Edward, are you using a LaCie drive in its pure vanilla -- erased and reformatted for MacOS extended (journalled) -- form? It seems that the problems with Western Digital's supplied Mac backup software may also be afflicting some LaCie-supplied backup software running under Mavericks. If you are not using LaCie-supplied software, (and don't have it on your drive) let us know.

Hi Eaun, yes it was an Apple purchased product using the Lacie supplied software. It worked fine under Mountain Lion, but not with Mavericks.
I will check the Lacie website as well as contacting Apple and let you know what response I get.

Cheers

Apparently it is only the firewire drive that gives this problem. Connecting via USB3 is not an issue. Lacie are supposed to be issuing a fix but no sign yet.

I seem to have a related problem: my LaCie d2 v2 drive worked perfectly on the G5 but connected to the MacPro with Mavericks it refuses to show up on my desktop. It appears perfectly on 'About this Mac' but I can't do anything with it, although it has just slapped my wrist for turning it off without having ejected it!

Definitely a mavericks problem because I've just noticed a folder on my desktop called 'G5 Desktop from LaCie', Which I must have done when I only had Mountain Lion installed. Oh happy days....
