Rogue text frame in InDesign 2

Avatar Eric Jervis
Whilst updating a brochure I have change every month I seem to have accidentally clicked in a wrong palette. I now have what appears to be a text frame which prints. I don't want it to print but when I select it there are apparently only a limited number of things I can command it to do. If I delete it I also delete most of the text within it. Text Fame Options doesn't give me the option of making it non-printing. The User Guide and InDesign Help are no help at all.

I've got round it by recreating it from last month's, however my problem seems to be related to a rectangle I've drawn within the frame, and then coloured. I must have selected the frame at some point rather than the rectangle within it by forgetting to press cmd.
