How do you move photos manually around in iPhoto. Having copied my slides and put them into iPhoto they are now not in the right order. I go to the view menu and try and set up manual and it is greyed out

Doug, I don't think you can re-order them in an Event but if you put them into an album you can drag them around to your heart's content. The basic philosophy of iPhoto seems to be that events are just for orderly image capture, so facilities for viewing convenience tend to be focused around Albums.

Trevor is right but there is a bit more to the story. You can drag photos from one Event to another, you can split Events, and you can merge Events (although I can't do it the way the Help site suggests). But, as Trevor says, you can't mess around with the order of photos in an Event which is a blooming nuisance in my view.

Thank you for your answers, it is a pain in the neck. The slides I have copied in the correct order get al jumbled up when loaded into iPhoto which when I put them in an album I have to sort.

I have found a way in iPhoto to alter the time and date so you can move photos around. Highlight a photo and then go to photos and click on adjust time and date, then move to where you want it.

If you are using that approach Doug, you may find the Batch Change facility (in the Photos menu) useful.

Hi Doug
Try this it half sorts the problem.
event - album - sort manually - then no. each one 1001-1002-1003 etc might work 1-2-3 not tried it.
select all drag to event -create new event. Back in event sort photos by title but then you have to remember
to change back to date for other albums. You can then delete the album you changed them in leaving them
only in events. I find the problem a real pain especially when producing an apple photo book.
I also want to find a way of keeping them in order on an SD card to show on my TV.
