Since updating to 10.8.3 and the new Safari I find that I cannot watch anything on iPlayer. Has any one found this has happened. I can still play iPlayer on Chrome
Which version of Safari are you using? I am using 6.0.3 which is the latest available to me on Lion and iPlayer works fine. But then on Mountain Lion things may be different.
Hi Doug, this is just a hunch which I can't test here , but you may be able to. Using Mountain Lion 10.8.3 and Safari 6.0.3 (both the latest updates) here iPlayer works just fine.
Have you updated Adobe Flash Player lately (latest version at this moment is: 11.6.602.180
from http://www.adobe.com/downloads.
Apple have been known to put restrictions on out-of-date Flash installations to help prevent malware finding a way in, and Safari is Apple software. For Apple's security fixes, see for Mountain Lion 10.8.3 and for Safari 6.03
The Flash Player I have installed is version 11.7.700.146. I have tried to go back to 11.6 but cannot do it. Would this version not work on iPlayer. I can run iPlayer on Chrome alright, but not on Safari or Firefox.
In Safari, have you disabled plug-ins? If so, this will prevent the Flash plug-in from working.
Go to Preferences->Security: WebContent : Enable plug-ins. Do not enable the Java just beneath this option.
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=JOPDD says the latest Mac version is Adobe Flash Player 11.6.602.180 not sure how you've got a later (unreleased? beta?) version 11.7.700.146.
Even this link is saying there is no version > 11.6.xxx
Thanks, Martin for that nugget about Chrome and Flash. I believe that Chrome keeps itself constantly updated (or not?). Martin's suggestion to chuck your existing (and weirdly version-numbered) Flash plug-in is good. If this makes you nervous put it in the trash (but don't throw it away yet), then restart Safari to download the latest Flash Player. It will probably require you to quit all browsers before you can install it.
I checked Adobe's download site just now (10.40pm, Sunday 24th March) and these are their current versions (hope this helps):
Thank you for all your replies. The Beta version came from Macupdate.com, I have tried to delete Flash player and reload the earlier one but it always comes up with an error message.
