A new home for an iWeb site

Avatar Mark Ford
Since Apple stopped hosting it my family iWeb site has been dormant. I would like to revive it.
Does anyone have experience of doing such a thing?
Will any of the functionality of the old MobileMe site be lost - I seem to remember talk of that at the time?
I have become confused hunting around the web.
I phoned godaddy and they told me that using their servers would provide exactly the same as the MobileMe functionality - could this be so ?.

My little website http://www.thecrumpery.com was developed using iWeb as an experiment which got out of hand!

You will lose the following features publishing iWeb onto another site.

- Hit counter
- Search feature in Blogs
- Comments and attachments
- RSS feeds (unless you specify the url when publishing)

Check out this link for more information.

If you are thinking of adding loads more changes via iWeb, I'd suggest you look for another web building app like Softpress Freeway Express or similar. iWeb HTML is not that good and will be left behind sooner than later as newer web browsers standardise on HTML 5.

As for Godaddy... I'd avoid them. Their website is overcomplicated and always trying to sell you something. Depending on your ISP you might be able to host your website via them.

I use a little hosting provider called mediamarmot from £30 per year including domain name registration.

uk2.net might be worth investigating as well.

But there are many others.
