For the first time in years I have had a pop up while on the internet.
It purported to be alerting me to 'Bad cookies and Compromising files' that it had detected during a 'quick system scan' and offered a download of MacSweeper.
I ignored it.
Does anyone have experience of this?
I have just looked at my surfing History: My own memory of the event is hazy!!
On the 18th Feb I had been on:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/connected/main.jhtml?xml=/connected/2008/02/14/dlmac114.xml
The next record is:
http://tds.promoplexer.com/statsg.php
which re-routed me rapidly and I ended up on:
http://tds.maxconvert.com/?params=sbbOm6/Rtq2elZejqpjnxNHKzuap [I think that is a capital letter O rather than zero]
and then:
http://macsweeper.com/scanner/scan.php?landid=3&depid=&cid=&parid=
I can't see how I went from the Telegraph to promoplexer - there are now no links on that page that would have interested me - that must have been the page on which the pop-up appeared.
