10.7.4 Any experience of this update yet

Avatar Derek Wright
Reading comments on the Register and in the Apple Discussion forums there appears to be quite a few issues arising from the upgrade eg eSata drives, WiFi, and internet sharing etc.

For the above reasons I have held off installing the upgrade - has any one else any experience of this release.

Thank for any info

Derek

After waiting for about 2 weeks and assessing the comments on the Apple discussion boards I installed the combo update.

All fingers and toes crossed <g>

So far so good with the latest release - another one is due before mountain moggy is released from what I have read.

I use the Combo update method as a matter of course - in the past it was found to resolve funnies, and I continue to do it to remove a possible cause of inconsistency.
It does not talk long to download and then copy to all the machines on the lan.

I'm with Derek - no issues so far.

I'm quite sure that far more people use Software Update to install these updates and the vast majority will have no problems at all. However, some of us (including me) who have been doing this for a long while, remember when there were more reports than we get now about problems with OS updates through Software Update which were then cured by running the combo update so we still use that, more (I'm guessing) out of habit than necessity.
