Offered: eMac on long term loan
Eleanor Spenceley
I was given a couple of eMacs by a Fareham member last week. One machine is still fully functional (1GHz G4, 1GB RAM) and is far too useful to languish in my Mac collection... well just yet. :-)So I wonder if any of the members know of someone who would be interested/really benefit in having it as a 'long term loan' machine.
The conditions would be as follows:
1) Have the machine as long as you find it useful to have.
2) Return it to me working or not. Don't worry if the machine dies in the meantime.
3) When you have the machine, contact me every 2-3 months just to keep track of it and it's usefulness to you.
This feedback is very beneficial as when/if I come across a better machine for the person's needs we could swap the newer machine and retire the old one. Or if I come across useful software we can install that for you as well.
4) If required, I will help you in supporting the machine.
Currently I have 7 older Macs out with various family members and members neighbours based around these conditions, so newer better systems are always on the lookout.
Ancient/broken Macs are also very welcome and will be kept from landfill if at all possible. (I have a current project trying to replace capacitors on an old iMac G5, though the likelihood of it working again is low, part of the fun is to try and fix these machines)!
