Lion 10.7.3 update may solve WiFi network confusions?

This post may have a bearing on Mike Corgan's recent WiFi network woes, but is posted as a separate topic for everyone.

<Mac OS X Lion stopped remembering a specific wireless network, forcing me to manually select the connection and then enter the password each time I wish to connect to that wireless router. This appears to be a common enough issue with wireless connectivity in OS X Lion and it usually occurs when waking from sleep or rebooting a Mac, which is followed up the connection failure>
Unquote.

The fix depends on updating to 10.7.3, using Disc Utility to repair permissions and then rebooting. The article offers links to a large selection of other WiFi tips. Let us know if this fix works for you.

If you are having troubles with 10.7.3 (or any other system update) it may be necessary to reapply it but by using the Combo updater from Apple's support / downloads site. This is big, at around 1GB but Combo updaters install new files rather than patches to existing ones, and takes Lion 10.7.0 right up to 10.7.3 in one go.

This solution doesn't apply to my )ongoing) problem of my wi-fi network being dropped, though since moving it to the top of the found networks list, at least it doesn't jump ship to climb aboard BTFON.

It doesn't apply because I am not using Lion as my main OS.

I feel it is worth sharing this experience.

I have developed this problem, most likely since the last update. A new iMac 21.5 inch desk top had been all right from November until then. Euan's solution does not solve the problem in my case.

As I have an Apple Care Protection Plan for this computer I phoned up today to see if they could fix it.

After about an hour the person concerned had tried a lot of things but had obviously done something wrong and had to pass me on to a more qualified person as all WiFi had been severed. This could not be solved from my time machine savings by this more experienced person. After another hour it seemed the only solution was to download the whole operating system again completely!!!! So after some 6 hours I was back to square 1!

So judging from this I would suggest grin and bear it for the time being until Apple sort out a solution. They do know about it and are working on it Apple said.

I also was having trouble much as described, but I found, a few days ago, that Software Update offered me the chance to load something (I forget the name) which promised to correct for losing WiFi on awakening from sleep - the computer, that is. This seems to have cured the problem (as, no doubt, others have also found by now).
