Hi Everyone - I've been trying to send a message from my computer to my partners mobile - using microsoft messenger ( it came with the mac office bundle) I have a windows live account - there seems to be a myriad of options but the one I want to use ie a message from the computer to the mobile has so far defeated me ! has anyone managed this feat ! if so I would be pleased to hear how it is done.
I have sent messages from computer to mobile using the Orange mobile phone website http://www.orange.co.uk/ but you have to set up an account first. I guess though, that this may not be the way you want to do it.
Thanks for the idea Steve - yes I am able to write free texts to her mobile ( 30 free per month ) which is great as I can't use those mobile text keypads - so to be able to text from the keyboard on the computer is heaven - she can't text me back yet - but we are working on that one !
thanks for your help
Tom
Mark, the service only works if you set up an account and have an Orange mobile phone. If you then log in to that account, an option on the Welcome screen is to 'send a text message'. I have to admit that it doesn't always work - you sometimes get a failure message. It serves my purposes though, and I agree with Tom that the standard keyboard is much easier to use. This probably gives a clue to my age!
The iChat help says "To send an SMS text Message : Choose File > Send SMS" In iChat 4.0, I don't have that option on the file or any other menu! Not even greyed out - no mention of SMS.
