Can anyone recommend an accounts program that is remarkably inexpensive yet jolly good?

Thanks Derek.

Actually, it's a bit of a bummer! The software is just what I need, but it's only for Intel macs, and I haven't got one.

Sounds like you have the perfect justification for a new Mac. . . :)

Yes, I am considering that; do you really think I need one?

Eric, I think Home Accountz will run on either chip. Try downloading the free demo (www.accountz.com) and see.

I don't work for Accountz and I'm not on commission ;-) but having used their software for about 20 years, I'm reasonably familiar with it so if you want more info, let me know and I'll give you a ring.

Thanks Mick, I'll give it a try, although it's actually the business version I need. But here goes.

Do make sure (if you buy) you buy the version you need i.e. it has the features you need. I think the demo has everything in it but there are three versions to buy.

I've used it and its predecessor since before it was available on a Mac. If you have any queries, mail me direct.

Thank you Mick,

The business version is for a business far more complicated than mine, (I've started to watch the demo), and the home version I don't need. I think I'll just use a pencil, but think a bit harder! Thanks for the info.

What about the Basic version? it's meant for simple bookkeeping i.e. it doesn't produce invoices (but that may change).

Thanks Mick, I'll try it.
