I have updated to Lion on both a MacBook Pro and an iMac, both machines are only a few months old. I have Pages '09 version 4.1 (903) on both machines,
I would be grateful for assistance in instructions on how to rename a file, unfortunately I have been unsuccessful with the instructions given to me last Tuesday at the Dorchester Meeting.
Hi Drew, maybe I misunderstood your question last Tuesday.
If the file has already been saved and is not open and in use, click on its icon in Finder. Click again on the name part and it should highlight the text in blue. Just overtype the name you want to use. Is that what you meant?
or, click on the icon whose title you want to change (the whole title box is highlighted)
press enter (the whole title text is highlighted ready for any changes).
For me this is more direct and "reliable" than clicking in the icon text area a few times. But "your experience may vary"!
or there again (and there is always at least one more way of doing things), you could ctrl-click on the file icon, and select 'Get Info' on the menu which appears, and then enter the new title to replace the old one under 'Name & Extension'.
