Slideshows from iPad to Apple TV

Avatar Roy Rainford
In 'Settings' on my iPad (original model) in Photos I put 10 seconds as the time to play each slide for slideshows. This time works on the iPad. However when I play the slideshow via Apple TV the time is reduced to about 2 seconds. Any solution would be welcome. I don't see any place to adjust timings in Apple TV Settings.
The slideshows work well from my Macbook with slides in iPhoto & via Airplay. Timings with this arrangement don't change. So it seems to be an iPad/Apple TV problem.

Roy, I don't have an iPad, so ignorance is bliss, but could you export the slideshow with your settings to Quicktime if all else fails? I'm wondering if that would make a very big file as a downside. Might be worth a try though.

Why don't you just plug your iPad into the TV, select the correct channel on the TV and play directly from the iPad. I do this with my MacBook using the video out connector and HDMI connection on the TV. I don't know which connections you have on the iPad or TV but I would be surprised if this is not possible.

The following is from http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/ and suggests you have everything you need.

Video mirroring and video out support: Up to 1080p with Apple Digital AV Adapter or Apple VGA Adapter (cables sold separately)
Video out support at 576p and 480p with Apple Component AV Cable; 576i and 480i with Apple Composite AV Cable
Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

Thanks Euan and Peter for the quick responses. Re using Quicktime would seem to defeat my aim of having my photos showing in their fully expanded glory on the 27 inch TV screen. The Quicktime window is comparatively small and when expanded it looses quality.
Re plugging in the iPad to the TV, yes that would work. A neighbour is doing it with the connections you mention Peter. However having recently splashed out on an AppleTV gadget thinking this was a neat answer, I am determined to use it one way or another! ATV is good for playing music from iTunes through the TV, via iPad and for renting films (but no time to watch those!). I can play my slideshows through it but at the wrong speed. If all else fails I will play slideshows from the Macbook. Btw - I called in at the Solutions shop where I bought the ATV and they didn't have the answer - it was suggested that I put the problem on this forum so here it is!

After lengthy phone calls this morning to and from Apple TV support they eventually said that they had reproduced the problem which I am experiencing. They hadn't known about this but will now work on it. In the meantime I will play slideshows direct from my Macbook or iMac.

No such luck but I might get a solution to the problem.
