Print dialogue window changed after Leopard

Avatar Roy Rainford
After changing to Leopard I found that the print dialogue box would not allow me to select 'Plain Paper', using Appleworks or Photoshop Elements 4. I therefore downloaded the latest driver from Epson but I still can't choose the paper being used. I use an iMac G5 PPC with an Epson Stylus Photo R360 printer.
Anyone experienced a similar problem?

Now (almost) back to normal, thanks to Epson tech support. Can select Plain Paper in Photoshop Elements & in Pages (iWork'08) but not in Appleworks. Perhaps this is not supported in Leopard by Epson? I have put this to Epson.

Another reason not to update to Leopard yet

In defence of Leopard, I've had no such problems with an ethernet Minolta laser or a Canon Multifunction, Canon Printer or HP printer all attached to different computers by USB

Epson have sent me two emails but neither solve the problem of being unable to select plain paper for text documents in Appleworks v.6.2.9. It's strange when I can do this for documents in other software. Anyone using Appleworks with Leopard?

What paper is selected Roy? Does it default to glossy photo or something?

Mick it defaults to 'Epson Ultra Glossy' & 'Color' in Automatic mode. In the list of media options I can select the default of course plus Epson Premium Glossy, Premium Semigloss, Glossy, & Photo Quality Inkjet. The other options are 'greyed out', including Plain Papers & Envelope, which are the choices I normally use in Appleworks. I can't see anything in Preferences to change.

If they're there but greyed out it would suggest (to me anyway!) that for some reason, the driver thinks the printer is a photo printer rather than general purpose so expects to only print on photo style papers.

Have just received another email from Epson (yes on Boxing Day!) which solved the problem. They said: "ensure that borderless is not selected in the page setup options." It was but now isn't & it works!! What a relief. This agrees with your last comment Mick. The new driver's default settings must have been for photo printing. Many thanks for your comments.
