Voice recording; help requested

Avatar Mark Ford
I would like to record my wife reading a children's book with an iPad2, then move it to an iMac, edit it & then turn it into a CD or mp3.

The App I am looking at is VoiceRecorder HD that records .wav files.

Before I buy it and find out what it won't do what I need [I have looked at the developer's site] can anyone tell me please:
1. Will I be able to edit the .wav file on my iMac?
2. Is it easy to turn it into a mp3?

Mark

I'd have looked first at GarageBand for iPad. Have you dismissed this?

When you say "edit" the file, what are you aiming to do? If for example, you want to cut out a cough, then GB will certainly allow this. If your wife reads "labourer" instead of "labrador" that's going to be tricky!

I use EasyWMA for converting wav files to mp3

Thanks Mick,
I have Garage Band but read somewhere [not sure where] that there is a limit to the length of a recording. I have looked at the help files and apart from being intimidated, I can't see any reference to total length.
Editing would just mean chopping out bits - I would like my instructions to be "If you make an error just go back and read it again". And perhaps putting in a sound when she turns the page so the nips can read along with Grinny!

Hi Mark,

A bit late but.....

You might like to try Audacity. This is free to download and has lots of support and tutorial pages. You can open a Wav file and export it into numerous other formats including mp3. You can edit the sound file chopping bits out and adding other bits. It allows you to multi-track so you can put the parts you wish to insert in a second track and play with the overall recording until you are happy.Audacity
I have used the 1.3 Beta version and it has worked perfectly on my iMac.
