Plusnet's so-called 'fair usage' scam

Avatar Eric Jervis
I've been downloading a fair bit recently and a few days ago my broadband speed dropped to something ridiculously low. I was peeved about this, since I've been with these wretches for years without downloading anything to speak of, and paying them £20 a month for the privilege. Rang them three times yesterday, each time getting the recorded lie that they were experiencing an unusually high number of calls, and that the waiting time would be in excess of twenty five minutes. Rang them today and the wait was 'in excess of five minutes'. Held on and was rewarded by speaking to a bimbo called Jasmin. Went through the usual rigmarole and Jasmin put me on permanent hold while she allegedly checked my broadband usage, ha bloody ha! Hung up after eight minutes of their crap music; Rang back and spoke to a bloke, who checked my usage in about five seconds flat (31.4 GB) and suggested he put me on a much cheaper package @ £8.49 per month, with a usage limit of 60GB as opposed to 30GB. Needless to say I accepted gratefully.
My question is this: Are they mad, or what? If they hadn't bu messed me about I'd have carried on paying the idiots twenty quid a month for ever.

I suggest that you watch the ThinkAdsl Plusnet Forum - discussions of Plusnet not informing their subscribers of improved packages are quite frequent - however how many other suppliers postively inform you of a potential price reduction if you change packages.

Are you a BT Shareholder - if so have you applied for 50% discount for 6 months with Plusnet.

At saving me money; but I'm not a shareholder.
