Further to discussion at Dorchester re deleting contacts, I tried new v5 Skype and see the problem. Looks awful anyway so suggest revert to earlier version

A friend persuaded me to download and give it a try. It wasn't the software that was the problem, it was seeing ourselves on screen. Blimey, who are those two old…?
At least on the phone, we can still imagine we still look the same as we did in the 1960's.
Short of reverting to an earlier version the issues can be mitigated.
The ugly and overlarge Skype window can be avoided by bringing up the Contacts Monitor. A grey transparent window then appears showing contacts currently on-line. This is by no means ideal as it can’t be reduced in size beyond a certain point and although you can move it to anywhere on the screen you do not have the option to prevent it floating on top of other windows
Contacts can be deleted.
Highlight the offending one [or hold down cmd to select as many as you like] & in the dropdown menu Contacts click Delete Contact... Your normal Address Book is not changed by this. There is a pdf with pictures here.
I tried to download this older version of Skype today but the download didn't work, I will try again later but the issue I have with v5 is that after downloading it, the icon has a 'no entry' symbol over it preventing me from installing it.
My iMac runs 10.5.8 so should be ok despite it's advancing years, although it is a non Intel chip. I am signed on as an Administrator so there should not be any permissions issues. Any ideas on what |I need to do?
