Mac Mini Sound card problems
John Surtees
After a couple of years constant use our Mac Mini has hiccuped. It decided that it didn't want to send signals through the headphone socket anymore. I immediately thought oh no, expensive repair. Then I remembered that the USB sockets can be used. So £13 for a Lindy USB Audio Adapter and we are back in business. Don't know if I'm kidding myself but I think it sounds even better.Had to smile though. Opened the packaging, there was the mini CD with the drivers for the Windows users along with the instructions on how to load etc. Six procedures to go through and then a reboot. On the Mac, I just plugged it in, changed the output to USB in the Sound preferences and it worked.
Incidentally, I have since found that Devilsound do a digital to analog converter cable that gets incredible reviews, but at £269, I should hope so. Blimey, I only payed £123 for my Acoustic Energy Aego M speaker system. Thoroughly recommended by the way.
