Omnis 7

Avatar Graham New
I have an elderly MacBook running OS 9.1 on which the membership records of the local residents association are entered in a program, now defunct, called Omnis 7. This is the only record of members we have.

Does anyone know a sensible way of getting these records off the computer and onto Windows Vista. I have tried simply copying them to a disc but can't get any sense out of it. I could, of course simple print the list but I'm trying to avoid retyping 460 names and addresses etc.

(via Mark Ford) Euan Williams says:
why not use Omnis on your Mac natively? Somewhere I have an Omnis installer which worked under ?10.3, and was free via a Mac magazine. Contact me [undisclosed email]. Most of these databases can "export" their info via "comma separated values" or "Tab delimited Fields". so you ought to be able to transfer it ok.

Euan,

Thanks for coming back to me. Fraid some of the jargon defeated me! What does 'natively' mean (going native?) and the CSV and TDF hmmm!

Anyway, here's my e.mail : [undisclosed email]; Phone [undisclosed telephone]

Many thanks

Graham
