Now that I have completely updated to Snow Leopard, the lack of AppleTalk prevents me from using my ancient, but reliable Apple LaserWriter 4/600 PS, in conjunction with my AsanteTalk box. The printer is in good condition, and has a spare toner cartridge. The only thing needed (apart from an OS earlier than Snow Leopard) is a lot of patience, as the printer is e x t r e m e l y s l o w. (but is also very economical.)
Should anyone want the LaserWriter and AsanteTalk, please get in touch, before it gets thrown away.
Don't know if this will save it from the dump though it relates to an older LaserWriter:
Re: Printing to Laserwriter Select 360

Thanks so much Bruce. I downloaded USBTB and installed it. The Laserwriter Select 360 then appeared in my printer que as USB2.0-Printer. I added the printer but when I tried to print I got a message that there was a communication problem. I then selected the Laserwriter select 360 software in the lower box and the printer now works perfectly.
So: to summarize, all that is needed is an inexpensive Parallel to USB cable, a free download of USBTB, select the correct printer software, and your Laserwriter select 360 is good to go in Snow Leopard.
