Parental Controls

How easy is it to set up parental controls on my PowerPC G5?
And how inconvenient will it be for me when I fire up the machine?
Twice in the last few days, when my seven year-old granddaughter has vacated my computer I've clicked away her children's game playing site (Today it was on CBBC) only to find behind that screen another one for a porn site! (It's called something like Streamate). I can't believe that she did it on purpose. She uses Firefox 3.5.16.

Deleting Firefox and installing the latest version seems to have solved the problem.

I have found Parental Controls quite easy to use. You would need to set up your grand-daughter with her own standard user account (to which the parental control restrictions then apply), which keeps it entirely separate from your own administrator account. You would also want to disable automatic log in though, which may be a bit of a hassle. I wasn't aware of any controls within Firefox that stop unsuitable sites being accessed but if you have achieved this from within the application that is great. Parental Controls limits web-site access but I think only through Safari however it can also be used to limit the total time spent on the computer in a day and a cut off time in the evening. The only problem we ever had with Parental Controls was when we bought a new iMac and transferred the files automatically. Parental Controls got corrupted and caused all sorts of problems on the new iMac but that is another story!
