Download warnings

Avatar Graham Whent
At the Dorchester meeting this week I thought the remarks about my wife's sex life and condoms very insulting. My question was and still is on downloading picasso from google chrome the warning message came up this could damage my hard drive should I install it? I downloaded antivirus after reading the book EASY mac os X snow leopard
it was recommended. My Daughter has had 2 new hard drives on her DELL (all see can afford) this month. I have uninstalled the anti virus and tried downloading picasso from safari. Up came a similar message this could damage your computer. So should I install it?
GRAHAM.

Hi Graham,
Is this the site you went to to get it? http://picasa.google.com/mac/
It seems to be a message that Chrome throws up even when the download is from Google itself.
I downloaded Picasa and replaced the copy I had with it and all seems well.
I downloaded iTunes from Apple and got the same warning from Chrome.
I tried one or two other applications via Version Tracker http://download.cnet.com/mac/3151-20_4-0.html?tag=vtredir and got the same warning from Chrome.
I googled the warning and got this from the Google Support Forums: "It's just a google chrome warning msg I believe. If you are trying to download the picassa .dmg from the google site you have nothing to worry about."
I wouldn't/didn't worry.
I am sorry you were offended - I must say I was taken aback.
Mark
