Has anyone had any success contacting someone on facetime? So far all my attempts have been met with ."......is not available for facetime", even though on one particular occasion we were both poised for the call.
Yes, I have used FT successfully on both desktop, and via 2 iPhones. FT for Mac beta is a desktop app, and takes a little setting up. If you persevere, though, it works fine. One little wrinkle I got was if my friend tried to FT me on the desktop, and it was not an active app, it 'woke up' when the call came through, and started itself up in the dock. HOWEVER, the time it took to do this meant that my friend got the '...not available' message at his end. If he tried again immediately he got through.
When we tried using 2 iPhones it was fine. The only thing to bear in mind is that it needs BOTH parties to be on a wifi or hard-wired broadband connection. If one of you is on a mobile network, even 3G, it will not work. (Yet.)
Hope this helps. Remember that FT for Mac is still in beta, so we should expect the odd wrinkle...
