Phone (cheap) won't Sync to my Mac even though it should. Can I test on another Mac please
John Nicholas
Last week I updated my phone through Vodafone. The first they supplied was claimed to be Mac compatible. It wasn’t. The replacement has been confirmed by Nokia to be Mac compatible via iSync, subject to downloading the relevant Nokia plug-in. This I did 3 times but the two pieces of USB linked equipment still won’t sync. The phone drive appears on my desktop. The Phone is listed on “About this Mac/more info/hardware/USB” . However when I launch iSync the computer scans for the device (phone) but says it cannot find any device. I have checked the phone software for updates; none were required.
Nokia blame Apple, Apple blame Nokia, After the third phone call, Nokia referred me to its nominated Engineer who (contrary to what Nokia said) will not look at the computer or the USB link but will only check the phone (perhaps). Vodafone say not their problem (asserting that they are only a Network provider, and that the phone has Nokia on its label so it’s down to Nokia. I said poppycock.) I’m giddy going round in circles. Have been on the phone for many hours. I have now complained to Vodafone quoting Sale of Goods legislation but it may be quicker to find a “work around” solution/diagnosis.
I have a desktop Mac so prefer not to load up everything to transport elsewhere. Does any member ( and living not too far from Mew MIlton) have a Mac still running 10.4. 9 or10 or 11 (I have 11). Could perhaps I try my phone on that member’s computer if they were willing to download the relevant plug-in. This I assume would determine whether the problem relates to my version of iSync or my computer (which I had assumed it was not) , or whether it is a phone or a wider compatibilty problem.
