Safari extensions - possible problem ?

Avatar John Surtees
Since installing some extensions in Safari, I have been unable to access our bank accounts online. I just get a message saying Account No/password not recognised.
This happens with accounts from two different banks. I can access them using Firefox or in Safari (without extensions) on our MacBook, – so nothing to panic about.

The three extensions in use are:

Bing Highlights – To quote MS, brings intelligent, contextually sensitive information to the web pages you're reading.

SCC (Safari Currency Converter) – Converts currency shown on foreign web sites into Sterling.

Widgets – A handy extra Safari menu bar with weather, rolling news, time in different locations and date.

Just interested to know if anyone else have noticed this problem.

Hi John,
I had a somewhat similar problem with Safari 5.0 and our WaMug site log-on a couple of weeks ago. This is what I did, although for quite other reasons:

Restarted Mac with Safe Boot, opened Onyz, cleared user caches, closed Onyx, restarted in normal mode. Bingo! password etc. worked just fine, and still good today.

Mick Burrell cleared a similar issue by deleting the relevant Keychain item.
-HTH

yeah - I did din't I! I'd be suspicious of any MS claim to do something intelligent ;-) You could always delete the extensions and re-install them one by one, checking your bank access between each till you find the offending one.

The extensions were obviously the problem. I've found that when I need to delve into the vaults, I just switch off the extensions in Preferences, then switch them back on when needed.

Anything for an easy life. But I will check the individually at some point.

Bing..... A flesh eating disease. Have any of you used Glims? As a safari extension, vie found it to be an invaluable addition to the built in search amongst other things.
