Try Ask or Bing or just use Google without responding to the ads or clicking on the sponsored links. At least the Google employees get their perks because the company is profitable. This is in contrast to some of the banks who make monumental losses and then award themselves huge bonuses.
How many times have we seen this before. When times are good, companies are so 'benevolent'. The real test is when times get tough. Gradually all the perks that we were told contributed to the success of the company get removed, and it's back to 'clocking on', 'time sheets' and sandwiches eaten at your desk, because 'there is no way we can afford a canteen any longer'. All in the search for efficiency of course.
To Google employees, I say, enjoy it while you can. As the bottom line shrinks, so will your perks.
