ebay works better with Tiger

Avatar Eric Jervis
I've been trying to buy something on eBay. When I click on the item I'm taken straight to the bottom half of the succeeding page. I'm unable to bid for the thing because the clickable area is on the top half of this page, and I cannot get to it. Leopard 10.5.8 on a PowerPC G5.
However, it occurred to me that it might work better on a Tiger machine, so I restarted on my Tiger 10.4.11 drive; and lo and behold, eBay works as perfectly as it ever did.

Oh no it doesn't. It was actually a problem with iCab; it works fine with Safari. Aren't I a silly boy?

Hi Eric, in happy and energetic pursuit of the genuine delights of Snowy Silliness (solemn-minded readers stop here):

have you noticed the extra arrow which sometimes appears in the bottom right corner of Safari pages (4.0.4)?
Is it an evolutionary oddity like the human appendix which seems to have no purpose?
Is it the sign of dark viral forces undermining the nation?
Is it a creepy crawly?
Is it a sign of things to come?
Suggestions please, on a postcard, to Room 101
best wishes, Euan ;-)

Bore da y chwi Euan boyo,
I suspect a wind-up here, but I'm going to investigate anyway!
(it)
It's raining, hooray, never thought I'd say that again!

No sooner had I said that than the postman brought my Irvin jacket!
I'm so hot.
But I'm going to drive the old grannies wild!

and a very good (rainy) morning to you too, Eric!
The curious arrow is really there, sometimes... but the Grannies may distract you.

If, as I suspect, the chwi means "you", what does this tell us about Star Wars?

Well, that was most amusing; InterTran says it means, "Morning good the you". I may have misremembered it though; I bought a phrase book in 1963.
I'm not well up on Star Wars I'm afraid, but have you noticed that the grannies are getting younger and more attractive?
Is there any particular site at which these arrows appear?

ChewBacca (aka Chewy) is the flight engineer on the StarWars intergalactic smuggler's ship piloted by Harrison Ford as the cynical Han Solo. Looks like a cross between a large brown Orangutan and a bear. Communicates by highly modulated grunts. Possibly the last fling for US tobacco advertising too!

Young Grannies: trouble is, the young Grandpas are getting younger too!

Arrows: no particular site, an down arrow may appear in the square beneath the "official" down arrow and to the right of the left-right arrows. Doesn't do anything and may disappear when window is resized.

I feel I must ask: Has anyone other than Euan seen these mystical arrows. Or are they, along with the references to Star Wars, the Welsh language, creepie crawlies, human appendices and reversal of the ageing process, all part of some analogy aimed at illuminating the topic of eBay and Tiger?

Trevor - still in the dark, earthbound, appendix intact, arrow-free, speaking English and getting older.
