Back home now. Can recommend the Hampton Inn in the SoHo. A nice budget hotel in a very interesting area of New York.
Lionel: A WAMUG trip sounds great. But can we go by boat please. Virgin Economy is not recommended. Every time, I say the same, ‘NEVER AGAIN’.
Eric: It was only part of the brass section. But they were fine musicians, with an interesting leaning towards jazz arrangements.
Euan: Eurostar! Now that’s the way to travel. It could make a nice trip. On the other hand, Covent Garden Apple Store is opening next year, with no need for the phrase book.
It was interesting, that for all the talk of freely available wifi. The only places that I was able to get online for free were two Applestores and a coffee shop in Brooklyn Heights. While there were plenty of free sites advertised, and there were strong signals. Most attempts failed with the message ‘Could not connect to server‘ or some such. A friend with an Acer netbook also had the same trouble. However, he was able to utilize the hotels free ethernet connection. Not much use to a iPod Touch though.
