Superb, why didn't I notice it before?

But Windows can sometimes win!
I suppose that colour management for the purposes of producing high quality photographic images is a bit of an esoteric subject and certainly not main stream but....
I bought an iMac because I thought Apple were the leaders in this field however it now seems as if things have changed and some decisions taken by Apple have resulted in a situation where it is easier to get better true colour (whatever that may mean!) images using Windows.
Anyone interested should look at:

The entire thread is a bit long but you can read just one comment from Jeff Schewe a long time Mac user who has a Mac Pro, with I think 32gb ram and see what he has to say.

I like many of the features of my iMac but there are also some things that are unnecessarily frustrating.

Sadly, it looks as if Apple have abandoned people with large collections of Type 1 Postcript fonts as well.

Over the years, I have spent many hundreds of pounds on Type 1 fonts, only to find now, that Snow Leopard does not work with them. I can see why those who have spent thousands on whole font libraries are up in arms. What are they suppose to do, spent another £4000+ an Opentype libraries?

Ah well, it's Tiger on G4 until retirement for me.

John,
I'm happily using Type 1 postscript fonts with InDesign CS2 and Snow Leopard 6.2...

but had to do a major overhaul of my fonts (Linotype's FontExplorerPro free trial was very useful, and I have now adopted it).

Not sure where the Type 1 myth started, but it seems to be inaccurate.

Ewan,

That's most encouraging. I have to admit my info came from the letters page of the December issue of MacUser. Virtually the whole 'Mailbox' spread is taken up with postings from the MacUser forums regarding Snow Leopard, with a good proportion talking about the problem with fonts.

Ho hum, best not to rely on all that we read.
