iTunes transactions

Avatar Mark Ford
Just had my Waitrose Store card refused because of dirty dealings on iTunes.
I had spent 59p on an iPod app & it seems that fraudsters have been targeting transactions under £1.
Is this a ruse to make us buy more expensive app?
Thats not a real question! .. but it is both irritating and time consuming to have a card refused. I suppose someone has an eye on our interests.
I missed the news story all together - anyone else experienced this?

I've had a similar transaction queried (by chance that too was a JL card) with the explanation that fraudsters used to put through transactions for very small amounts which would not be queried but would confirm that they had "live" card details. A bit like a phishing email I suppose.

Apparently this is a standard ploy used by fraudsters when card details have been cloned or the card has been stolen. Have you checked for any unusual transactions on your card. such as an expensive meal in Venice. Something similar happened to my son.

No, no problem - I had made a purchase from the App Store so the transaction was legitimate & mine - Waitrose were just checking.
