Wi Fi Connection

Avatar John Marriott
Can anyone help me regarding an intermittent connection problem.
I would like to get this sorted as I have persuaded my family to buy an iMac and now I need to sort this problem.
Having set the system up as per the set up the connection works OK. Then for some reason it disconnects itself and the loses all other network it has found. Then it comes back but it is dimmed out on the menu. Then without warning it connects again. I have been trying via a telephone to help but have now run out of suggestions. The router is a BT Home Hub.

Wi-Fi connections can suffer interference which can sometimes be resolved by changing channels. Look under your wireless settings on your router and you should be able to select a channel. Try a higher number than you are currently using...

Thanks Terry
I have been in touch with Mick and that was one of the suggestions he made. The problem is that my son in law was a PC user (I know, but someone has to buy them!) and the connection worked fine with that. Mick made a number of other suggestions and we are in the process of trying them including a chat with Apple support.

There was an article in the April 9 issue of Mac User on intermittent wi-fi problems

Also get hold of a copy of iStumbler this will show you how many and what channels on other WiFi networks are interfering with your system.
