Disc Clone recommendations

What do you recommend for cloning an ancient iMac running Catalina and a 2012 MacBook Pro running Catalina? I hope to update both in 2021 so would like to get something which will still be usable when we have the latest machines.

Carbon Copy Cloner and Super Duper are the names that come to mind. The latter has a free version. What are the pros/cons of going for the free/paid versions?

SuperDuper! is free to use as long as you want and as often as you want, to do a full backup. If you buy a license, it allows "smart" backups - it checks file dates and only backs up those that have changed since the last backup making it considerably faster - and to make a schedule for backups which occur automatically. It does not yet cope with making a clone from Big Sur but no doubt will shortly but works perfectly with Catalina or earlier.

Thanks Mick. SuperDuper it is going to be then I can review as and when we do an upgrade to Big Sur if there is still a problem with compatibility.

You will still have the problem that some older applications which ran on Catalina will not run on Big Sur
