malware attacks OS X

Avatar John Yardley
Hi,
I want you to imagine your searching the internet using google.
You click on a google search result and it seems to take you to completely different website.
What has happened?
A trojan horse has downloaded on to your computer and has misdirected you to that site.
What can you do about it?
You can download a tool that removes the file that has downloaded to your computer.
Where can you find the tool, go to:

http://www.securemac.com/

and browse for dns changer removal tool.

Hope this helps?

John

I read your entry like you can just pickup and get infected by this trojan just by clicking on a search result?

DNSChanger is a trojan software package which needs to be downloaded _AND_ installed by you (as administrator) _BEFORE_ it starts working.
It is totally dependent on the user being 'duped' into installing a video codec to view dubious content wherein actual fact, it is just a DNS rerouter.
e.g. This is just Trojan software.

The best thing to do is _NEVER_ to install any software you are unsure of its origin and you will not be affected by this social engineering hack.

Now... if we are talking about a Windows computer... I might be more worried... :-)

Martin,
Sorry, I thought it was clear. As you state, you can't get a trojan by clicking on a google search result.
Can I point out the trojan can be mistakenley downloaded when the content is not of a dubious nature and the browser is duped.
John
