Stopping the Catalina Nags

Thanks to advice received at the last Bournemouth meeting, I have now stopped iPad OS from nagging me to set up ApplePay ( I have it on my phone but see little point in having it on the iPad just yet).

My next target is the little red disc on the System Preferences icon on the Mac which keeps nagging me to update to Catalina. Has anyone found a way of saying 'No, and I really mean "no"!' to this?

Are you sure it's not a Safari update?

Nope. I did the Safari update and I still have the white 1 in the red circle on the system preferences icon. Catalina is the only update shown. I haven't clicked on the 'more info' button yet so maybe it's like the ApplePay nag - I have to feign interest up to a certain point before it will take no for an answer?
