May be worth another thread with a different title now Eric but to answer those two (as I couldn't join in about OS 9!) to keep an application on the dock, you either drag it there when it isn't running, or, if it is, right click on it if you have a multi button mouse or ctrl-click if you don't (or if it's not set up yet) and choose the option "keep in dock". Near the right of your dock is a vertical line (I'm assuming dock along the bottom of your screen) click and hold on this and as you move up and down the dock will get bigger or smaller.
