Removing an app from an iPad

Avatar Lionel Ogden
Since updating my iPad to iOS 9.3 I have one app, a radio stations app, which has gone black with a message "waiting" below it. I assumed at first that it had not updated properly and tried to re install it. This did not work and so I assumed that the particular app was not suitable for OS 9.3 so I decided to delete it. I could not do this either and so I synchronised the iPad with iTunes on my iMac and tried to remove the app from there, but the "remove" button changed to "will remove" and nothing further happened.

Any suggestions?

Did you sync it again after getting the 'will remove' indicator?

Presumably you tried to delete it on the iPad by holding down the Home button until the icons started to wiggle, then tapping the x.

Have you tried this again after first:
a) ensuring that the app is not running, and that App Store isn't running, by swiping them upwards in the switcher screen and
b) restarting the iPad?

Worth a try.

Thanks for your replies I tried the process again and reached the same point, but then I noticed the "Apply" button when I pressed this the removal process continued and then I synced the iPad and the deed was done. I have only had a Mac for fifteen years or so and I shall eventually get used to it.
