Producing CDs

Avatar Eric Jervis
I want to produce CDs of somebody reading a book, one page at a time, with a long pause in between. I'm looking at a Sony voice recorder with a USB connection for about £45. I'm guessing that the way to do this would be to import the recording into GarageBand via USB, muck about with it a bit, then use Toast to burn the CDs. Has anyone had experience of such a thing? Mac Mini running Mountain Lion.

I've never done this but your approach sounds (!) OK to me. You'll need to paste in the silence/a gap with no audio and watch your audio formats (for best quality, avoid any transcoding).

If you intend to buy the Sony, I suggest you just check audio recording quality from your iPhone/iPad first. If they're adequate, you might save some pennies.

Eric, If it helps, I have an Olympus DW-90 Digital Voice Recorder you could borrow. I've no idea how it measures up to your quality requirements though.

Thank you Tony and Trevor, I bought the Sony last week but I've not yet had time to muck about with it! I shall keep you posted.
