I am having a little problem connecting to my HP printer which is connected to my home network by ethernet. I can connect to the printer from my intel iMac running 10.5.4, my intel MacBook running 10.5.3 and my G3 iMac running 10.4.11 when they too are connected by ethernet cable. However, only the G3 iMac will connect by airport if the ethernet cable is unplugged. Both of the intel computers on 10.5 cannot recognise the printer via airport. All the computers can access the internet via the router when using airport. The router is a Zoom X6 wireless modem router with 4 ethernet ports.
The iMac and Mac Book, I understand are both 802.11n compatible, but the printer is not. However I thought that both of these computers were b,g and n compatible.
All of the devices appear to be on the same subnet
Some progress, I installed a firmware upgrade to the router and now I can print most of the time via airport from all the computers. I say most of the time because for no apparent reason from time to time the MacBook cannot "get through".
In answer to Terry's question, all the computers can connect to each other by wire or wireless , but until now the two intel macs could only connect to the printer via the wired ethernet connections. The old G3, bless it, has been able to connect to the printer in both ways from the beginning.
