a) Is this a trackpad built into a ;laptop or a stand alone one? (May not make a difference!)
b) Do you mean sensitive to a press to select or a touch and swipe or both?
I'm assuming you've exhausted all the controls in System Preferences>Trackpad.
I don't have a laptop to try this on so I can't test it but try pressing hard on diagonally opposite corners then repeat with the other two. Warning, as I can't test this, I can't find out how to reverse it if it's not what you want so you may prefer to wait for a more informed answer!
Hi Andrew. (If you haven't already found Mick's suggestion to work) go to System Preferences >Trackpad > Point & Click > Tracking speed. Slide the adjuster towards "Slow". There may be other issues, but this would be my first solution. Let us know.
I trailed through Apple Support for an answer before I asked on here, thinking that someone else may have had a similar problem.
When typing whatever, I found the curser would end up wandering all over the document i.e. "Wandering Curser Syndrome".
This was annoying, as I kept having to retype sections of the document whenever the curser decided to take off by itself. I obviously associated this with the trackpad being oversensitive, hence my question.
I took heed of Micks Warning and left well alone, just in case??? However I unchecked "Tap to Click" in "System Preferences" and hopefully solved my "Sensitive Touch" problem. I now have to exert a little force on the trackpad to bring up an app. or whatever.
I have had this problem using a magic trackpad occasionally and put it down to the problem Mick mentioned above. Using said trackpad I have also sometimes accidentally opened the Menu due to a trailing finger.
