Combined Update 10.5.4 On MacBook Pro

Avatar John Marriott
Having downloaded the above update on my MacBook Pro I have tried to install same.
After 2 hours the progress bar just sat there having moved no more than 10 mm along the scale from the start.
Is this normal for this? Or is it because it is a large update (560Mb)?
Does anyone out there have any idea how long this update takes to install?
I should add that when it got to 1.20am I turned off the machine with the power button!!

I upgraded to 10.5.4 via the software update, usually not a recommended procedure. However all went well and from what I remember did not take an unduly long time.

Worked OK here John - MacBook pro. Did you repair your hard disc first? or take any other "precautionary" steps like unplugging peripherals?

Didn't know I had to repair the hard disc first Mick?
Nothing connected but working on wirless!

It's not a "vital" but good practice to do it before an upgrade of the OS - at least, I think it is and it won't do any harm.

Have you tried installing the update again?

Yes Terry
Just tried again - without success. The dialog info states that the system is being configured and the progress bar just gets stuck.
Another problem I have is that I have lost the original DVD install disc!!
