Updating Safari problem

On seeing that Safari had an update I clicked 'Install'. The installing bar went about 80% then stuck. When I try to open Safari I get: "Safari can not be opened while it is being updated." It has been 'updating' for at least an hour. How do I return to being able to open Safari please? (Using my iMac on OS 10.10.5)

I am too impatient it seems. Safari has been updated to v9.0 and is now opening.
