DVD burning

Avatar Eric Jervis
Despite having a DVD burner installed I have failed miserably to make the thing work. (It will happily burn a CD using Toast.) My Mac is a G4/400 and I have fitted the maximum amount of RAM (total 1344 mb) and the largest additional hard drive the machine will take (112 gb), to no avail. According to System Profiler the DVD drive is a Pioneer DVD-R/CD-RW, which is described lower down in System Profiler as a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-109 Revision 1.17 and Driver version 1.4.7. There seems to be an anomaly here, with System profiler describing it both as a DVD-R and a DVD-RW: is this a clue? I am using OS 9.2.2. If this is the problem I am willing to install OSX Tiger on the other hard drive, which is the latest version my machine will run. Help!

Small point Eric but make sure the blanks you have are either -R or -RW as the +R and +RW versions are not likely to work. Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious but the R will burn just once whereas the RW is re-writable and can be erased and used again.

Thanks, Mick, they are the minus type.
