Scam?

Avatar Roy Rainford
Have just received an email from "Apple" but putting the cursor over this I see: "[undisclosed email]".
The subject is: "Please Confirm Details To Unblock Your Apple Account"
The message says: "We have detected an unauthorized sign in on your Apple ID"
"As a part of our security measures your Apple ID was locked.
While your Apple ID is locked, you cannot use your Apple software, also access to your iCloud is limited.
If you want to unlock your Apple ID, please click here."

Do you agree it's a scam and if so, to what Apple address should I forward it? Roy

Hi Roy. Apple are probably very well aware if it's a scam - the real issue is what you should do about your account.

Why not first try using your Apple id to log in to, say the App Store or iTunes. If this works, your account hasn't been blocked, and the email is a scam.

Then follow the instructions here to change your password just in case.

Treat it as a scam, then check that you can log into your Apple account in the normal way via your regular browser.

AS for alerting Apple - there are lots of contacting information at
Apple contact info

I doubt if this scam email is new to Apple though - I think I have received one or two as well.

I have received three of these in the past 6 or so weeks, I always delete them and then log on to Apple Account to see if everything works

Thanks all for the replies. It was definitely a scam. I logged in to my Apple account successfully and bought an App. Updated my account and deleted the scam email. Thanks again. Roy
