In my battery of email addresses two are IMAP. And though no settings have been changed I am getting messages to say that mail cannot be received on either of them and that the email program - Entourage - cannot connect to the network. However, email is working normally on the POP accounts. Would there be a common reason for these two accounts not working properly?
Well, using Outlook from Office 11 has done the trick. It has also given me a bonus of two sets of folders and messages.... One that has nothing later than 2014, the other up-to-date. Wish there was a way of swiftly deleting all those duplicates!
Sadly Outlook didn't do the trick after all. Both IMAP accounts wanted passwords (but why, after a period of running well without them). I entered the passwords, and the accounts are both working again - for the moment!
I don't know my way around Outlook (or Entourage) but if it's just a password issue, you could try deleting it/them from the login keychain then fetching mail, entering them when asked (ticking the box to remember) and check that the new entry in the keychain has the current date & time.
