Printing Digital Pictures

Avatar Lionel Ogden
I am having problems getting decent printed copies of selected photographs using my iMac and an Epson R300 inkjet printer. On the screen the photos look fine but when printed they are dark, looking under exposed. If I copy the pictures to an SD card and then have them printed at Boots they are fine. I have also tried printing to a Canon Selphy Photo Printer which uses the dye sublimation process, with the same result.

I use Epson or Canon papers with the relevant printers.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried altering the printer settings in the print dialogue box

I use an Epson R360 & always have to adjust the settings in the print dialogue box as Doug suggests. The default setting is 'Plain Paper' so has to be changed to Epson Glossy.(or whatever you are using). The Mode I change to 'Advanced' & the Print Quality I move to 'Fine'.

Another aspect to consider is the Colour Space setting. Most commercial printers use CMYK whereas imaging printers use RGB.
My printer is set on Working RGB - Adobe RGB(1998). My camera is set to Adobe RGB (not sRGB)
