Yosemite (and iOS8) users have been suffering from WiFi hiccups which haven't been completely resolved in 10.10.1 although 10.10.2 is in the works and may improve things for more users.
This TUAW article covers some of the technical aspects and offers work-arounds (no, I haven't tried them).
