Spam

Avatar Roy Rainford
I have recently started to receive more Spam than usual. All very similar emails and look as if they are from USA. e.g.. "Mom Makes $/Month Part-Time At Home". Apart from not clicking on them, can anything be done to stop Spam reaching my mail box? I am on Mavericks v 10.9.5.

Your Mac can learn that they're junk mail and put them in the Junk mailbox automatically but this only stops them appearing in your Inbox. To (try to) stop them reaching your Mac, you need spam filtering at your email provider. Most providers do have this facility. Using Safari (or similar (other web browsers are available!) log into your account with them and go to the email section and see what you can find. Most have different levels of aggressiveness and also a choice of what they do with email they think is spam.

Thanks Mick. I have checked my account and see that "Homesafe Online Protection" and "Virus Alerts" are switched on. However I can't see anything else that I could try. Lots of other users are saying things about Spam, some receiving similar emails to mine.

I'm afraid I have no experience of Homesafe so can't offer help as to what they provide.

I will train my Mac to recognise junk mail, as you mentioned it Mick and take care not to open anything suspicious.
