I downloaded by mistake iCloud Drive and am unable to delete so I have to wait for the new Yosemite to be released .
As it will not work with my imac. Not a happy bunny
It mystifies me why iCloud drive should be limited to machines running Yosemite. As it is "in the cloud", I cannot see why it should be dependent on the latest OS. This is particularly so when you find out that it can be accessed from a PC with an OS several years old.
I am afraid it is another example of Apple limiting new features to the latest OS so that we will keep buying new Macs.
I wonder if it's because lots of the features linking iOS 8 and a Mac require Yosemite on the Mac? Windows users possibly wouldn't know about them or if they did, wouldn't expect them to work. Mac users with older systems would find iCloud Drive no different to say Dropbox so possibly wouldn't bother with it.
I take your point about needing to buy new machines but my MacBook Pro of 2007 vintage is currently running Mavericks so I believe will run Yosemite - albeit slowly! So 7 years and still up-to-date is not bad in that respect but I believe you have one of the last MacBooks made that will not run Mavericks, probably of similar vintage?
