Hi Doug. There are several utilities that should recover data from your camera card, try googling

There is a great site for exploring the ubiquitous Time Machine's complexities here: http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html.

While Time Machine really is great software, relying on it (alone) for backup is incautious, and it's sensible to have a clone (or two) with separate file backups for safety and to avoid problems. It's a Sparse Bundle thing.

For those new to Time Machine: always use the TMC interface to access files -- and never simply "copy" a file out of the TMC folder. These may look like the real thing in the Finder, but actually represent something rather more complex.

You may have to say goodbye to your TMC backup if there is corruption in it, and don't forget to check the drive/partition for proper functioning. If there is a drive problem you may have to erase and reformat it (or the partition). Let us know what worked for you.

Thank you for your reply Euan. I have with Apple guidance erased my HD and installed first Moutain Lion the updated to Mavericks and all is working correctly but when I migrate my info from time machine the fault is back. I also have two SuperDuper backups but I think they are corrupted also.
